What Does Landscaping Actually Cost?
One of the first questions we are asked by homeowners across Buckinghamshire is simply: "How much will this cost?" The honest answer is that it depends on the size of your space, the materials you choose and the amount of groundwork involved. To help you plan, here are realistic 2026 price ranges for the work we carry out across Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, High Wycombe and the surrounding areas.
These figures are guide prices only. The best way to get an accurate number is a free, no-obligation quote based on your actual garden.
Patios
A new patio is one of the most popular ways to transform a garden.
- Small patio (up to 20m²): £2,500 – £5,000
- Medium patio (20–40m²): £5,000 – £9,000
- Large patio (40m²+): £9,000+
Porcelain tends to sit at the higher end of the range than Indian sandstone, but it is virtually maintenance-free. Costs also rise if significant levelling, drainage or steps are required.
Driveways
Driveway prices vary widely by material and the amount of excavation needed.
- Gravel driveway: £40 – £70 per m²
- Block paving: £70 – £120 per m²
- Resin-bound (over a suitable base): £80 – £130 per m²
A typical two-car driveway of around 40m² usually falls between £4,000 and £9,000 depending on the finish.
Fencing
- Standard timber fencing: £80 – £150 per metre (supplied and fitted)
- Composite fencing: £150 – £250 per metre
Replacing posts, removing old fencing and dealing with sloping ground can affect the final figure.
Turfing and Lawns
- Fresh turf (supplied and laid): £12 – £20 per m² including ground preparation
- Artificial grass: £40 – £80 per m² depending on quality and base work
Full Garden Transformations
Many of our Buckinghamshire customers combine several elements — a patio, new fencing, turf and planting — into one project. Complete garden makeovers typically range from £10,000 to £30,000+, depending on size and specification. Doing the work in one go is often more cost-effective than spreading it across several smaller jobs.
What Affects the Price?
- Access — restricted access for machinery and materials adds labour
- Ground conditions — clay, slopes and poor drainage need more preparation
- Materials — premium porcelain, composite and natural stone cost more upfront but last longer
- Removal and disposal — clearing old patios, concrete or fencing adds to the total
