The Honest Answer
One of the most common questions we get asked is "how long will my patio take?" The honest answer depends on several factors, but here's a realistic guide.
Typical Timeframes
Small patio (15-25m²): 3-5 days
- Day 1: Excavation and groundwork
- Day 2-3: Sub-base preparation and compaction
- Day 3-4: Laying slabs
- Day 5: Pointing and finishing
Medium patio (25-50m²): 5-8 days
- Additional time for larger excavation
- May include steps or raised sections
- More slabs to lay and point
Large patio (50m²+): 8-14 days
- Complex groundwork
- Often includes multiple levels
- May involve drainage work
- Brickwork borders or walls
Factors That Affect Timing
Weather: We can work in light rain, but heavy downpours stop play. We always factor in weather contingency.
Access: Easy rear access speeds things up. Carrying materials through a house or narrow side passage adds time.
Ground conditions: Rocky soil or old concrete takes longer to excavate. Clay soil needs more preparation.
Design complexity: Steps, curves, and mixed materials all add time but create stunning results.
Our Approach
We always provide a realistic timeline at the quote stage. We'd rather under-promise and over-deliver than leave you waiting. Most importantly, we stay on site until the job is finished - no disappearing to other projects mid-way through.
